NAWD Gaits Wide Open Committe Member Dianne Little

Dianne Little resides in Calgary, Alberta Canada.   Her first riding lesson in 1981 was not only her introduction to horses, but to gaited horses.

“This riding lesson introduced me to people whose philosophy and actions were based upon education of riders based on good horsemanship.  This was combined with ethics and values based upon the welfare and respect for the horse.   They showed me how to ‘walk the talk’ and directed my actions toward activities that were For the Horse.”

Her involvement includes director positions on the Alberta Walking Horse Association, Canadian Registry of the Tennessee Walking Horse and Equine Canada.  She is a Vice-President of Friends of Sound Horses a leader in the promotion of natural, sound gaited horses, the fight against abuse and soring of the Tennessee Walking Horse, and education of horse owners.   She is Director of Judges for the Independent Judges Association an organization dedicated to sound, natural and ethical judging of all gaited breeds.  She was instrumental in developing the FOSH Dressage Manual for Gaited Horses.

“I never imagined the profound effect that first riding lesson would have on my life.
